This page is dedicated to the magical feat that is the human consciousness. You will find personal and linked articles on the subject, intended to expand and enlighten your knowledge and interest.

1. the state of being conscious; awareness of one’s own existence, sensations, thoughts, surroundings, etc.
2. the thoughts and feelings, collectively, of an individual or of an aggregate of people: the moral consciousness of a nation.
3. full activity of the mind and senses, as in waking life: to regain consciousness after fainting.

4. awareness of something for what it is; internal knowledge: consciousness of wrongdoing.

Now to me, these ideas only scratch the surface of what really is going on upstairs (in our minds). Though I particularly like the final definition, ‘awareness of something for what it is’- if this does not confirm what is happening in our minds, to our minds, then what will?
Consciousness is simply that- being aware. So if we are so ‘aware’, why are there still so many questions about religion, the meaning of life, the afterlife, the universe, reality, etc? If we are aware, then surely we are aware of all said questions?
To me, when I think about ‘consciousness’, I simply feel whole. Everything that seems to exist in the ‘reality’ of the universe becomes submerged within my Self. And we all know the Self is just another perception of one ‘existing’ within ‘reality’.
Why did I create this page? I am fascinated by the human psyche, combined with ‘physical reality’. I believe what goes on deep within the nerve endings and electrolytes of the brain far outweighs this one, simple, physical space in which we inhabit.
Did anybody see the movie Short Circuit? “I am not Thing, I am Jonny 5, I am alive!” Jonny 5 the robot was struck by lightening during a routine army test, which resulted in his wires crossing and ‘life’ being injected into him.
Of course he already had ‘life’- through the mechanics and the bits and pieces of metal that made him up- he was a fully formed robot who could move around with permission from the guys in control. Until the lightening that struck him caused some kind of reaction that granted him true life; not just the ability to move, but the ability to think and feel. He had a soul. He was capable of forming social relationships with people, cracking jokes, asking questions, and of course most importantly- he was capable of love. So my theory is, why can the human brain not work in the same way? Our brains of full of electorodes, electrolytes, energy and all sorts of other phenomena. Who says our soul or consciousness is not somewhere within this electric, existing as pure, unidentified energy?

Man I don’t know, I have no scientific, psychological or physiological training at all. That’s why I took to WordPress to try to find out.

Bill Nye (The Science Guy) was asked in a recent debate ‘Creationism VS Evolution’, what consciousness is, to which he replied with a wry laugh, “I don’t know.”
Now in the 21st Century, why are we still unable to explain what should be the most simplest of questions- who are we and how did we become ‘conscious’?
I believe people need to look deeper within themselves- far deeper than they have been. Far deeper than studying the relationship of the moon and the sun, or how new stars are forming everyday, or why people cannot fight against their own greed, ego and self-consumation. For it is only when we do this, that we will be capable of looking inside ourselves. And there we shall see, an infinite existence, an infinite universe and most importantly of all, infinite love. Which is the be all and end all- we are here to love, and real love comes from within.

I’d love to know other people’s thoughts on this. What is the consciousness, or what does the soul mean to you? And what does it mean to our existence?
