A Day with Phillip Day – The Maximum Health Workshop

Standard

Today I was blessed with the opportunity to attend a fascinating seminar by one of the world’s most experienced health researchers.

As a volunteer at a local charity (Together Against Cancer, who commit to informing the public about natural, ‘alternative’ forms of healing and wellness), the request for help at the event was sprung on me at the last minute. I’d already do anything for the centre – it’s run by such an inspiring, amazing group of people who are so knowledgeable and committed to what they do – but having read some of Phillip Day’s work, I was never going to turn down this chance.

And oh my, what a Day.. For 6 hours (which flew by) he covered so much, that it’s still kind of digesting in my system (no pun intended). This included, but certainly wasn’t limited to how:

  • We live in a completely false reality, from food to education to news reports
  • Sickness is bigger than war, and is the biggest business on earth
  • Between 2000-2015, pharmaceutical drugs have killed more people than World War 1 and World War 2 combined
  • Since 2000, 16 million Americans have died as a result of the effects of chemotherapy, not cancer itself
  • Being ‘cured’ of cancer is actually defined as survival after 5 years of initial treatment
  • Most diseases and ailments are metabolic, i.e. caused by a severely weakened immune system/ unhealthy gut
  • Chemotherapy and radiation destroys your immune system
  • Vaccines at birth serve no purpose and in fact do more harm than good
  • Type 2 Diabetes can be reversed in as little as 7 days
  • A plethora of ex-medical professionals are becoming whistleblowers to the twisted and inherently murderous medical system
  • Big Pharma are desperately trying to silence Day and other organisations who are making this information public

Did you know it’s actually illegal in the European Union to state that food is key to curing and preventing disease, and that drinking water cures dehydration? Call me stupid, but that’s some pretty insane logic.

It’s absolutely mental how governments and society convince us to doubt the wisdom of our senses. And to trust in doctors, who have zero nutritional education and are trained by pharmaceutical companies, literally just to push drugs in an attempt to cover up symptoms and zombify the masses.

Probably even more worrying than the sinister set up and power these organisations have, is what Day calls ‘cognitive dissonance’ – that being, wilful ignorance by we, the people, and a refusal to question anything.

We’re raised in a culture where we’re convinced from day 1 that doctors are the fountain of all knowledge, that pharmaceutical companies want to help us (why on earth would they ever offer us cures, when that would mean the immediate halt of cash flow?) and that our government is acting in our best interests (despite the fact they’re also endorsed by those same companies).

Day highlights the importance of diet and nutrition in preventing and reversing disease through 5 simple principles:Image result for campaign for truth in medicine

  1. 80% plant-based made of organic wholefoods
  2. 60% raw (80% is even better)
  3. Keep animal products under 15%
  4. Eliminate all refined sugar, wheat and dairy
  5. Adopt an intermittent fasting/autophagy regime

He also delves into the structure of the human body on a much deeper, cellular and energetic level, discussing the intricacies of DNA and the information we store. It was mind-blowing stuff and certainly gets you thinking (an amount more than already being contended with!).

He takes time to cover the array of vitamins and minerals we need to function, where to obtain these and how best to prepare the body to absorb and utilise them.

This is literally only scratching the surface of the presentation, and this summary serves only to inform, remind and reassure us that there are other ‘crackpots’ discussing and promoting alternatives to what we’ve been programmed to believe about our health, longevity and life on earth in general.

But as always, I urge you not to take my word as gospel (I’m sure there’s no risk of that) and to do your own research. If something about this resonates with you, don’t stay stuck in cognitive dissonance – we live in the age of information, and were incarnated at this time for a reason. Use the power of the internet and all the knowledge that is offered to find that which you are seeking.

Stoptober: 31 Days Sugar-Free

Standard

This year I decided to participate in ‘Stoptober’, opting to quit sugar for the entire month. So I thought I’d share my experience, plus a few handy ‘alternative’ products that quite frankly, I probably couldn’t have survived without.

To clarify, by ‘no sugar’, I mean cutting out the refined stuff, or anything where the top 3 ingredients are sugar (or products which are clearly laden, though may not make it clear on the pack).

So, things like biscuits, sweets, chocolate, most cereals, baked beans, yogurts, store bought sauces, cordial and fizzy drinks, cereal bars, cakes etc.

To be honest, most of these things I’ve generally avoided for a long time anyway (I haven’t had fizzy drinks or cordial for years, and since I switched to a plant based diet I only ever make my own sauces), but chocolate admittedly is my weakness, as can be cereal (if I’m bored at night I can put away 3 bowls without blinking). So to say it was a challenge is still somewhat an understatement.

In our western culture, we’re introduced to sugar from almost day 0. And quickly we become addicted to it, going through childhood with fists full of candy, throwing tantrums if we can’t get our fix. Then progressing into later life, as adults we find solace in chocolate bars and cakes (I know this is the main thing that gets most of my work colleagues through their day in the office, besides gossip). And if we try to resist, the temptation is more often than not too much, despite the huge sense of guilt that usually accompanies even just one Miniature Hero.

Now, many studies have emerged showing not only how detrimental the white powder is to our health (leading to diabetes, obesity, heart disease and even cancer), but also how highly addictive a substance it is (it stimulates the same pleasure receptors in the brain as cocaine!!).

Personally I’ve known this for a long time, never being able to have just one bite of anything that’s laced with it. And who knows how many times I’ve woken the next morning with a ‘sugar hangover’, belly feeling like it took a powder beating, hardly room left for real food yet feeling like I’m starving.

So when I quit, I found that the ‘hunger’ I often feel, despite having had substantial meals throughout the day, isn’t hunger at all but just a sugar craving.

Here’s what happened when I quit:

  • I stopped waking up feeling groggy/ inexplicably hungry.
  • I lost weight, particularly that stubborn belly fat.
  • My cravings reduced.
  • I had more energy throughout the day, due to replacing it with more natural/sensible energy sources.
  • I was generally happier.

Of course, these things didn’t all happen at once, but did precede one another.

The main change for me I noticed really was in the mornings; I was no longer dragging myself out of bed, subconsciously looking for my fix. Instead I had lots more energy, and really looked forward to my breakfast.

Here are some of the (delicious) alternatives that helped get me through:

  • Fruit (fresh, frozen, dried)
  • Maple syrup
  • Xylitol
  • Raw Bran Flakes
  • Pancakes
  • Home made popcorn
  • Raw cacao
  • ‘Plamil’ sugar free dark chocolate
  • ‘Pulsin’ raw brownie bars
  • Smoothies

These two together with soy milk are actual Love in a bowl 😍

Admittedly, once October was over I did succumb to 3 bars of cooking chocolate in one week (ugh, gluttony). But I’m trying my best not to fall back into that pattern again. And avoiding the sweets aisle in the supermarket is actually easier than it was before!

I’d recommend anybody give detoxing from sugar a try- there are so many alternatives out there that help us maintain our energy levels without spiking then dropping our blood sugars (which only leads to further cravings). Like any drug, it’s a vicious circle and we all know addiction to any substance isn’t the ideal.

Why not give it a try? 🙂

No meat, no dairy, no sex

Standard

So. I made the decision to practice celibacy about two or more years ago. Back then it was a loose insight in my mind, projected and ideal but not quite accepted. With a crazy sex life having basically come to a halt, I didn’t need to actively abstain.

Then over time it developed as an actual truth, and as much as I’ve resisted, I’ve also learned to accept it.

I had to make a mistake or two to learn some lessons, but recent occurrences seem to indicate I learned well. It’s been an extremely difficult.. should I say,  frustrating  week, and temptation has been rife. But I didn’t succumb and I know I’ve made the right decision(s).

I mean I’m sure I have, but as a replacement distraction I’m stuck with constant thoughts of food instead.. not necessarily a new struggle, but it is now far heightened by the need to fill some kind of comfort gap. Mostly by bourbon biscuits and Oreos since they’re some of the naughtiest treats I can have as a vegan.

Anyway, I believe the preservation of sexual energy far outweighs the wastage of it on something that isn’t an emotional connection. Saving it for a special person and moment, a sacred act shared between the two of you who understands one another is just perfect.

No need to jump straight into each others pants, as temporarily exciting as that can be. I’m no prude, in fact this decision is kind of killing me inside, but I know it’s the right one and has been there for a long time. It’s just been a while since I’ve been ready for the next test.

Now I’m taking another step along the path of self discovery. And I am genuinely excited to be on the way :)🙏

Finding ‘blog balance’ between my 2 favourite things

Standard

Lately I’ve been wondering why I share more food moments than yoga moments on my blog.

Like both are my main loves in life, but I guess the balance of ‘want’ and ‘need’ between the two is quite rocky at times.

Most of my days lately have been spent in the kitchen. I mean literally, if I have just an hour free time I’m back in there, looking to throw something together that will help me to get me through another day.

Yoga is a deeper experience, executed mostly by, and with, myself, in a sacred space I have devoted to the practice.

Don’t get me wrong- I still practice every single day. And to a degree this is because it’s something I ‘need’.. but it is also merely a ‘want’, from my body and mind.

Whereas food is comparatively a huge ‘need’, as clearly it’s needed for survival. Even more so now being vegan, I need to make sure I’m always a step ahead of the eating game, and that meals and snacks are prepared and on hand as and when they’re needed.

I suppose with yoga being somewhat of a ‘private’ practice (aside from when I attend classes), I’m less inclined to ‘share’ my experiences on my blog.

But I love to inspire, and I want as many people as possible to experience this wonderful practice. So I will try to incorporate more yoga posts.

Cooking has been one of my main ‘exercises’ of late, and I do want to inspire healthy eating too. Yet again we return to that issue of balance… something I am also working on👌.

Peace and love yogis, chefs and fellow humans. I love you all, unconditionally.

There’s nothing like a good independent documentary to get you riled on a Tuesday evening. Happy ChooseDay

Standard

Today has been another one of those days.

Witnessing the reactions and repercussions of choices made.

So on becoming vegan, I’ve sort of rewritten my future. Just to give one recent example, I’ve been to three BBQ’s in the past two weeks. With my new dietary requirements, I’m now in a position where I need to prepare and bring my own food (with enough to share, of course). This has been somewhat of a ‘deal’ at all three BBQ’s, not unsurprisingly.

I’ve found being a vegan at a BBQ (at these particular gatherings) was like how being the sober person in a nightclub can sometimes feel; like nobody really knows why you’re there; and they’re certainly not interested in sharing your sinless concoction.

Anyhow, had I not decided to turn vegan the past two weeks, and had shown up with my standard spicy chicken skewers, much of these experiences had played out slightly differently.

Then tonight I watched the documentary,  Cowspiracy. And wow. Just wow when the universe flows so perfectly. (Although we try our best not to doubt ourselves), when one feels the confirmation, the knowing that the choices you’ve made are the right ones, it feels amazing.

Just to sum up Cowspiracy – basically animal agriculture (that’s everything meat-industry related, including rearing and feeding animals) is the biggest cause of deforestation. Erm, we are destroying Mother Earth by choosing to eat animals.

Not only that, but this information is purposefully kept from the public. You don’t even see animal agriculture listed as one of the biggest issues on ‘environmentalist’ websites such as Greenpeace. When it is in fact, having the biggest impact on our planet.

And… we’re destroying land for the purposes of raising animals to sell for food for richer people… in countries where other humans are starving.

The logic. I cannot comprehend.

So yeah, I’m embracing being vegan. I’ve also had a lot of number synchronicities lately, including the 33’s telling me my path is true.

Had the tastiest vegan dinner so far today

Even if I do have to be the awkward twat at BBQ’s and weddings (also got two of those coming up, I’ve had to again be an inconvenience and change my dietary requirements.. 🙈), it’s all worth it.

I can live in peace knowing I’m not contributing to the constant suffering of animals or the rapid destruction of the planet.

And then it’s make some waves… who knows what amazing changes will come about? But they’re bound to happen, all the same.

Peace and love everybody

Since beginning my yoga journey some twelve+ months ago, I’ve experienced a whole new level of Self. My inner being feels cleansed, I’m more aligned, and I have a much deeper sense of Oneness.

Every posture, from the simple yet delightful up-dog, to the muscle-tingling baby grasshopper (I’m yet to find my way to the more hardcore version; the daddy Grasshopper) takes me on a journey through the mind and body.

Becoming and being aware of one’s own physical structure, discovering the sensation of each muscle maybe for the first time, feeling the body, brings with it new self-inquiry, and a deeper understanding of what lies beyond. Whether warming up for the day, playing around after work to wind down, or just passing time, it seems there’s always something new to be had from practising yoga.

It also gives a wonderful head-start to a meditation session, placing you nicely into a relaxed and calm state, especially after a well-earned savasana. I’ve found myself in many a ‘surprise’ meditation right after yoga, where my body and mind fall right into place.

Aside from the spiritual side, there’s also the health benefits that are complimentary with a dedicated yoga regime; more energy, self-satisfaction, balanced chakras, reduced stress, increased happiness,  a strong physique. And I’m sure there are many more fellow practitioners/yogis  could claim.

I personally recommend anybody who hasn’t, to give yoga a try. Don’t let age, weight or flexibility get in the way of your will – yoga is for every body, and after discovering it, everybody is for yoga 🙂

Peace and love.

Namaste.

Hi-gha, God

Standard

Why do we look up when we address God?

Neck craned, spine poised,

Gazing up to the ceiling.. even into the sky

Is it because God is a, nay, THE ‘higher’ power?

[But God is within Us?]

Gaze into the sky again

Stare past the stars

Deep through the u-niverse

Into yourself. Look within.

[Pray with true intent]

[[Even in-a tent]]

Hands together, liberated harmony

Drawn close to our hearts

Feel the particles of love beaten

God truly never departs

This random porridge is a brilliant way to start a new day!

image

This morning I was nourished by this delicious, random porridge concoction. I’m running low on a lot of food items so I threw in bits of what I had:

Porridge oats
Oat milk/water
Raw honey
Frozen raspberries
100% peanut butter (crunchy)

Hob on medium, heat everything together in a saucepan for 4-5 mins, or until excess liquid has gone. Mush raspberries a little with a spoon, to mix with the oats.

The peanut butter forms a slightly thick consistency on the spoon, but it’s still all good.

My energy levels were boosted all day and I got some extra protein from the peanuts. Plus it’s dairy free! Simple, tasty and nutritious. A class breakfast.

Good morning, merry Wednesday and viva la revolution.

Good morning, all. It’s time to wake up!

Good morning to the doctors and Lawers who support outdated ideals. No more will we accept toxic pharmaceuticals or unfair judiciary. It’s time to wake up.

Good morning to the police forces the world over. You don’t need to be tied to a totalitarian book of rules any more. Fuck the system. It’s time to wake up!

Good morning to the actors starring in daily TV news reports.. you don’t need to put your fear faces on any more, we already know how dark the world can be. It’s the time now to leave the screen and join us reporting on REAL news. It’s time to wake up.

Good morning to the soldiers all over the globe, fighting for false honour. Everything you’ve been told is a lie. Drilled into your mind to convince you killing other humans is acceptable as a form of national security. We don’t need national security, we need love spread around the globe, and no need to fear one another. Terrorism is not a job, despite what your wage slip says. It’s really time to wake up.

KIDS! …you woke up to make it to school. Now wake up a little more: the public schooling system is built as a form of control and indoctrination, in order to mould you into a functional economic slave, perfect to continue contributing to a failing monetary system that ONLY benefits the wealthy, and will never offer ease of living to working (or middle) class people. Stand up. They only teach you how to remember (their) facts and pass (their) exams, in order to enter (their) world of work.. to make more money for them.. It’s time to wake up!!!

Religious ministers… you already woke up when you found God. But was it enough, or did the specifics of your religous teachings conveniently distract you from the real Love, and that we are all God? If not, please continue to spread the word that all religions are based on the same principal and that is to love yourself and one another, unconditionally. If you’re still teaching the specifics of one lone religious sect, it’s time to wake up. Religion serves to divide us, when it should bring us all closer together. Wake up and help others to do the same.

ALL OF YOU, in your office, warehouse, sales, accounting, retail ‘jobs’… YOU’RE ALL HEROES AND ALL WORTH MORE THAN THAT. You were not born to spend half of your life working a job you dislike for barely enough money to get by. There is enough money in the world.. knowledge, resources AND technology for us ALL to live comfortably. Not one of us need suffer any more.

But first we all need to be awake to the atrocities carried out everyday by a miniscule amount of elite who sit at the top, frantically catching their overflowing cash bags before they drop down to us below. An elite who make sure we live in a backward society, where THINGS ARE LOVED AND PEOPLE ARE USED. A system which serves to fuel hatred and division, suffering and darkness. We need to first realise this, then we can shake up the system. And dismantle it. Then we can rebuild on the basis of love, compassion and altruism.

World. It’s time to wake up!!!
